Parklife – Stories with climate at their heart
Parklife is all about helping raise awareness about climate change by telling stories that aren’t preachy, but which encourage listeners to get involved.
We want our audience to understand how much they can do to address the climate emergency both individually and as a community.
Our characters will be confronting the same challenges and thinking about the same questions we face in real life:
- How to adopt sustainable practices like recycling, composting and waste reduction to lower carbon footprints.
- How to create community gardens in redundant or little-used park areas to promote local food production and foster community bonding.
- How to stay warm in winter and manage energy bills – and encourage councils and community groups to invest in renewable energy sources.
- How public transport and carpooling can reduce greenhouse gas emissions from vehicles.
- How to encourage local communities to work with councils to plant more trees and create more sustainable green spaces, to help absorb CO2 and support biodiversity.
- How to help local businesses to become more sustainable, and support those that already are, by buying locally and reducing the need for long-distance goods transport.
- How to get involved in local volunteer programmes that focus on things like environmental conservation, litter-picking, and sustaining wildflower verges.
But Parklife is not just a little local podcast!!
Our drama will be advocating for local involvement in national policies that support climate action – emissions regulations, sustainable development initiatives and a whole lot more.
We want to support the promotion of big national ideas around climate change. We have to start somewhere, so why not here?
